Electronic music and gaming culture grew up together - cheap home technology allowing creative
autonomy and generating a great popular obsession. While the biggest videogames corporations already
control Hollywood budgets, the culture of games - like the culture of electronic music - combines
the underground and the commercial in a joyful and irreverent audiovisual mix.
PLAYTIME brings games out of the living room to present an eclectic selection of artists working
at the frontiers between games, art, performance and party.
The audio and video from the public playing games on the dance floor are mixed by SOLU, joystick, ps
and friends, mceed by Kandinski, twisted and spat out to create a collaborative gaming spectacle.
The experimental gamers, Glaznost, Jodi, Retroyou & Once11 take us to the dark side of a twisted
game vision, warping gameworld reality to their own ends.
Micromusic gets your feet moving, bringing together artists from their decentralized web community
to recover the sound and the joy from the golden age of videogames.
Special Guest Alex Martin gives us a SID set - pure infectious old school commodore rythmn.
Throughout the night a careful selection of underground and commercial computer games will
be available to the public. A lounge area which will screen recordings from Barcelona's demo
festival, BCN Party , while Telenoika install their critical work in a surprise location .

The Micromusic night will feature shows by:

Teamtendo (FR) audio/visuals
Teamtendo fell directly out from a Gameboy-colour game into our world. They are two squirrels that
love smoking cigarettes and playing videogames. Sometimes they disguise as human persons to live
in comfortable anonymous way in Paris. They also made a movie about their live in the human world
which will be shown at the gig. http://www.teamtendo.net

Manou (DE)
WangaN'Monsta (CH) audio/visuals
Wanga is part of the main core of Micromusic members, and has been the musical director of the

The C-Men (NL) visuals
Julian van Aalderen (1976) and Sjors Trimbach (1974) have both graduated from the Academy of Arts
and Industry in Enschede at the Media-art department. Since 1999 they are operational as the C-men

MNU2/3 VJ-tool, they can alter their low-res animations on the fly.

Experimental Gamers
A community of artists has grown up around the theme of modified or adapted games that radically
question the consensual gaming world and generate new audiovisual experiences. The game becomes
a creative performance tool. Tonight we present some of the best known exponents of this line of
creation.
JODI
Amongst the first and most radical of artists working with videogames. Their version of Duke Nukem
is a classic. A recent obsessive series features reworks of Quake I (following its opensourcing)
http://www.untitledgame.org. Their new workis based on the culture of emulators: software allowing
to reproduce the aesthetics and the processes of computers such as the mythical ZX Spectrum
in modern PCs.
Retroyou fks Once11
Once11 and Retroyou take part in this head-on confrontation between sound and visual experimentation
full of digital distortion, graphic pollution and the worship of mistake. Featuring Retroyou flight
simulator and 11:11 3daudio science. http://www.retroyou.org
Glaznost
Glaznost are a group of artists from creative, graphic, audio and multimedia background.
Interested in changing videogames in first person, gLanzoL becomes an audiovisual experiment
with the purpose of generating graphics and sound in real time. http://www.glaznost.com--------
Special Guest :Alex Martin
One of the pioneers of spanish electronica. A creator with multiple faces, including Oxident Audios,
Reboot, Arexx, Alex Martin Ensemble, A3K, Full Duplex. At Playtime he will deliver a live set based
on the SID chip, the legendary gaming chip at the heart of the Commodore64 with which Alex has had a
deep relationship since the age of 10 years - pure old skool game sounds.
